New Jersey Turnpike Truck Accident Causes Serious Injuries

A man was seriously injured in a recent New Jersey car accident involving four trucks. According to a news report in The Times of Trenton, the truck accident occurred on the New Jersey Turnpike in Hamilton.

Officials say the crash began when a pickup truck stopped in the right northbound lane for a flat tire. Another truck that had a storage container on its chassis stopped behind the pickup truck. A third truck then crashed into the second truck, causing the container to go into the roadway where a fourth truck struck it.

The 61-year-old driver of the third truck suffered head wounds and has been listed in critical condition. His 17-year-old son was a passenger and sustained head and leg lacerations. The 40-year-old driver of the first stopped pickup was not injured, but the drivers of the other two trucks sustained minor injuries.

Determining liability in a multiple car collision can prove challenging. It is common in these types of accidents for insurance companies to pass responsibility for the crash between each other. Victims in such cases will have the claim denied, give up out of frustration, or receive an inadequate settlement from one of the insurance companies to make the claim go away. A skilled personal injury attorney is often needed to make sure that the injured victim receives adequate compensation.

A knowledgeable truck accident attorney will stay abreast of the official investigation and work with professionals to determine the cause of the crash. Depending on the cause of the crash, support should be available for all losses suffered including emergency services, hospitalization fees, lost wages, loss of earning potential, pain, mental anguish, the cost of rehabilitation services, and other related damages.
